Systems Design – Physical Data Visualization workshop Rio — 2010

Miguel Nóbrega and I are giving an interdisciplinary workshop about data visualization using rule-based and generative systems at the Esdi in Rio de Janeiro, december 10 – 12.

Goal
Development of visualization methods through digital and analog processes. Cartography will be superimposed with quantitative statistical data (socio-economic, political, geographical) to attain new meaning in visual form.

Means
Use of custom and proprietary software tools for sketching and spatial modeling to create physical and digital representations.

Open Call
The workshop is open to creative professionals and students from the field of design, visual arts, computer science, social sciences, architecture etc. The workshop will be limited to 12 participants.
If you would like to join us, please send until december 8th an e-mail to anf (at) anfischer (dot) com with your name, field of work and a link to your website or a pdf with 3-5 recent projects along with a brief description. We will get in touch with the selected participants on december 9th.
The cost is 30BRL per person for the materials.

About
The workshop is held by Andreas N. Fischer and Miguel Nóbrega.
Andreas is a graduate of Joachim Sauter’s class at the University of the Arts Berlin. He works with digital processes to create graphic representations, sculptures and installations. The artist lives and works in Berlin. http://anfischer.com/
Miguel graduated from the Esdi, Rio de Janeiro, in 2009. He works as a freelance graphic designer developing visual identities, editorial design and wayfinding systems.
